What is the Automate Update (AU) Client?

The AU Client is a Windows computer which has the Windows Automatic Update softare installed and running. The AU software contacts a Windows Update server (either at MS or inside your organisation) and receive updates. You can configure the AU client, via policies, to point to a particular WU server, how often to look for updates, etc.

The WSUS AU Client can not be uninstalled, although it is a smart client that can talk either to a SUS or WSUS server. It can talk to a SUS server, effectively as a smartly downgraded SUS client when it sees that it is talking to a SUS Server.

The AU software for WUS includes the following:

wuaserv.dll is the service dll(Windows Update AutoUpdate Service), but there some of the other key files are:
