Approve Updates


This section explains the features introduced with Approving of Updates.

There are many features associated with approving updates including the abiliyt to set deadlines and ininstalling updates. Once you've approved updates for a Target group, computers will check in with the WUS server and download the approved updates.

You can use the WSUS reporting feature to determine if those updates have been deployed to computers in the Target group. By default, the list of updates is filtered to show only Critical and Security Updates that have been approved or detection.

To approve updates:

  1. Bring up the WSUS administration site, and click Updates.
  2. On the list of updates, select the update(s) you want to approve for installation.
  3. In the Update Tasks box, click Change Approval. and the Approve Updates -- Web Page Dialog box appears.
  4. In the Group approval settings for the selected updates list, click Install from the approval column for the Target group, and click OK.
