Wanted - In Case of Emergency Unfortunately, this feature is not implemeted. You can, of couse, right click on a computer and selecting scan now. But you can not force all clients to rescan, with WSUS OOBE. Workaround Solutions: Option 1. You can do this with current implementation of WSUS by writing a tool to call WSUS server APIs and get a list of all clients and then call each individual client and force them to do a wuauclt.exe /detectnow. Option 2. Modify the Automatic Updates detection frequency setting using Group Policy. The configuration of the wait time between detection cycles allows administrators to plan for the business requirements of groups of machines. If you need a computer/server to have an update within 2 hours, set it that way. Increasing detection time has an increased load requirement on the WSUS server. Resolution for WSUS RTM Unlikely to be provided Comments:From Wizard - 4/7/05 10:45 AM I would also ask for a big red button for stopping updates. We don't have the time or man power to mange the updates, so everything is set to run automatically - however, microsoft has in the past release dodgy updates. We have also implimented staggered updates, so a small test group goes first, but we would like to stop the who process if something goes wrong. Last Modified 3/24/05 1:50 PM | Hide Tools |
