Content File Download Failed Access Denied |
SYMPTOMS
The download of packages you have set to install may fail, with the following error written to the Application log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Windows Server Update Services Event Category: Synchronization
Event ID: 364
Description:
Content file download failed. Reason: Access is denied
Source File:
/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/vbs55nen_a76b47d34e497bb2c14ba3cbed923cc042406c8b.exe
Destination File:
e:\WSUS\WsusContent\C7\6F81BBB0BBEE67DF83295942FAF0BBD8E724BCC7.exe.
WORKAROUND
Check the file permissions on the root and the folder where update content is downloaded. With the WSUS RC1 release, NETWORK SERVICE needs Read access to the root of the drive, and also needs Modify to the \WsusContent directory.

Hello,
Our WSUS server installed SP1 for WSUS and since then it does not download update files. The Event Viewer shows the following message:
Content file download failed. Reason: The operation being requested was not performed because the user has not logged on to the network.
The specified service does not exist. Source File: /msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/windowsxp-kb917953-x86-enu_a1c66e00d1a487f25ca16af5a7f858858136c228.exe Destination File: d:\WSUS\WsusContent\28\A1C66E00D1A487F25CA16AF5A7F858858136C228.exe.
What can we do to solve this? Before SP1 it worked without problems.
