It would be helpful if there was some way for WSUS go notify administrators (based on a customisable list) to get mail alerts when selected WSUS events occur, such as new/unapproved updates, new product synch categories, etc. ------ I'd love to see email notification options added. Something like being able to enter one (or more) e-mail addresses so that when a synchronization shows new patches are pending approval, it e-mails the list to let them (us) know. Also, if any patches are determined to be "needed", an e-mail notification of which patches and how many clients need it (for each one) would be a nice e-mail alert to have available. Quite often I stop to check the WUS console only to fine nothing new has been posted. Having it tell me when something is ready to look at would save a lot of time over a week/month. ------- SOLUTION: I see that the SDK will address that via sample scripts (snip from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/chats/trans/windowsnet/wnet_092204.mspx")... You can register on the security section http://www.microsoft.com/security of the Microsoft website to be notified of new updates that have been released - and then go to WSUS to synchronise and then approve and download the updates.
From flake - 4/11/05 11:31 PM This is a really great idea and would greatly acelerate the installation of updates! Additionally, it would be nice if the meail notification could be delivered in a daily digest format since sometimes there are tens or hundreds of updates.
