Symptoms

Microsoft documention incorrectly states that the UseWUServer value entry is obsolete.

More Information

This issue could affect any admin that configures WSUS clients using local policies (or via direct registry settings). If you use this method of configuring WSUS clients, then ensure you have UseWUServer value entry is set to dword:1. 

This was tested on numerous systems. If this entry is not present, the your client does not show up in WSUS admin. If the registry value entry is added, then the client shows up within minutes of either adding the entry or changing the value from 0 to 1.
