Good Time For Scheduled Update Installation

Have you rebooted machine and heard from angry users? Any lessons learned?

  • When is a good time for your users? What kind of users to you have?
  • How do you communicate them this point to them? Do you ask or dictate?
  • What do you recommend for a newbie admin should do?

I have my setup to automatically check for updates once a day (only until everyone is up-to-date) at 1:00pm (lunch time).  The clients will then update and ask for a reboot.

I do not force a reboot, but I do force that WSUS asks every 15 minutes for a reboot.!  :)

I have not had any complaints, mainly because the managers know its an important part of the network.
