It would be nice to enable a user to use a WSUS Server in the same way as he could use Microsoft Update. The idea would be to navigate to http://wsusserver/update, and get a site not all that different from Microsoft Update. Comments:From user500 - 12/17/06 4:46 PM From mrtrick - 10/13/06 8:14 AM I'd also love to see this feature and want the WSUS team to know that there is still tremendous interest in this feature
From traviskuan - 6/15/06 11:47 AM Yes. Agree. 1. We can redirect user download it from local update server to improve the download performance. 2. We block machine without install critial patch. So they can not access internet. But I alway they don't it from local update server.
From duffbeer703 - 11/14/05 1:50 PM Agreed... there are plenty of situations, particularly with laptops or VPN-connected devices where Windows Update HTTP functionality would be really useful. Since adding such functionality would be pretty trivial, I suspect that it isn't there for political reasons.
From schm196 - 8/25/05 7:41 PM Exactly, even though I want it for a different reason. I do not want to completely disable the "Microsoft Update" feature when people click on the link in the start menu but I do want to make sure that they hit my internal WSUS server and it looks and feels like the real Microsoft thing, maybe with some sort of corporate branding change. Changing the link is easy using GPO but the server doesn't have the functionality yet, or?
From mbakunas - 8/25/05 11:13 AM I REALLY need this functionality. My outbound Internet proxy server doesn't play nice with the Windows Update site.

I Agree. I am surprised it hasn't been added to 3.0 yet. This functionality would be great.
